FORMAT was a recent printer demonstration event hosted by Quadient in Dublin, we caught up with Dave Rainsford, who is our graphics manager for some comments on the event. Asking him for 5 things that visitors were saying, this was his take:

1.  The print industry is in a really good place, and the business will continue to expand for the foreseeable future. There is a good number of new opportunities, especially in wide format, but companies must adapt to take advantage of them.
2. Back-up and support is more important than ever to printers, and feeds directly into their sales cycle, and customer delivery workflow.
3. Customers are looking to automate more and improve their workflows as print increasingly teams up with digital media. Highly automated workflows link directly to profitability because it minimizes non-chargeable plant time, and the Duplo Green Button Tech is a good example of this type of efficiency.
4. Education and upskilling continues to be part of business development. Strategic and cost-effective training assists printers to reduce costs and enhance competitiveness, this is why we included workshops in our FORMAT line-up.
5. People are investing in new equipment and there is new energy in the market. The new Handtop HT 1600 UV, which we exhibited for the first time in Ireland is a great example of the type of new machines available.
